Sounds like you have a 30 year old Combat Master alright. I'll bet those parts would fit well in a 20 year old CM. Detonics changed from a dual spring to a three spring recoil system before the stainless guns were introduced. (That would have been before 1980).
I've heard how the old slides and frames were sanded to a match at the rear of the slide area. Apparently sometimes there was considerable sanding to remove the "casting bark" surfaces, which would explain why your extractor extended rearward. I took the extractor out of my new Detonics USA CombatMaster and it was a perfect fit at the rear with my Gov't models, as well as my 80's era Detonics Servicemaster and Scoremaster, and yes, it did protrude rearward in my old blue Seattle CM. However, such a rearward protrusion would be only cosmetic, and would not affect function.
If your old CM is a "cut and weld" model, that could explain how much you had to remove from your sear spring leafs, and how much re-bending was required. I'll bet it would work just fine in an 80's era stainless CM; though some tweaking for a good trigger may be needed.
When calling Detonics USA about parts for older guns, they explained to me how those parts "may need fitting by a competent gunsmith", but that they would work just fine. (And I've found that to be true).
Just my 2 cents worth, ...Deeton
