I was at a local Gunshow last weekend and came upon a Detonics MKI new and unfired! Cool! I gobbled it up after inspecting it. It's a MKI with an Essex frame, no MKI markings and a serial number of C318. I was told by the dealer that he got it from a Detonics employee. All the material I have read says that blued guns start at # 2000 and go up! What do I have here? It is in pristine condition and looks as if it is new made with a matte blue finish. Any help with the serial number and what it means would be helpful. I'm wondering if I have a shooter or something to leave unfired? Also the frame does not appear to be welded like I have heard about early ones.
