Had the same problem on both my MK V and MK VI guns, on a consistent basis!
My feelings after thoroughly examining the slide stop recesses and the mags,
was weak spring tension in the older original detonics mags. I purchased two new mags from Detonics USA and the problem ceased. However, I've also been plaqued with consistent feed jams with
multiple loads from various manufactures. Many people I've spoken to
over the years who have these guns have had chronic problems associated with feeding and extraction. In many cases the purchase of one of these guns was a hit or miss proposition. You could obtain a weapon that functioned flawlessly or one that became a consistent nuisance. And yes, this dilemma also applies to many other manufactures, but in essence it should never happen in a gun which is
tauted as the ultimate deep concealment pistol, one that many people bet their lives on! And yes, mechanical faults do arise in manufacturing many types of weapons. But some makes have such a preponderance of problems, that they could be deemed
unworthy of true consideration for their principal goal, mainly the saving of human life. It's quite interesting that Syd Woodcock, one of the founding fathers of the original Detonics co., has for quite some time now carried Glock pistols, and its very interesting that many of the malfunctions associated with semi-auto pistols are extremely remote or surprisingly absent in guns produced by european manufacturers such as Sig Sauer, Heckler & Koch, Glock, Walther,
Steyr, Beretta, Etc.. There are Glocks which have accumulated over 180,000
rounds and still print 2" groups at 25 meters, quite amazing! Something to ponder the next time your looking for the ultimate pistol for personal protection.
