Well. I'll tell you it would be a real shame it someone ruined the Detonics name simply to make a quick buck.

I took my 9-11-01 out shooting this last weekend and put about 250 rounds through it without a single hiccup. I was using Remmington white box and some Blazer ammo so nothing fancy. I'll try some hollow points in it after a few more rounds. The sights seem to be slightly off to the left - but nothing serious. I am going to take it to the indoor range and shoot it at different measured distances to see how much it needs to be adjusted. So far it just shoots and feels like a reliable workhorse of a .45. Nothing really fancy, but definitely an over-engineered gun on the inside for solid preformance and (hopefully) reliability. (It came with a tube of Militec1 and that really works well. After shooting it, the fouling just wiped off with a paper towel. I assume the 9-11-01 they shot 31,000 rounds through was lubed up with it as well.)

I found a Wilson magazine at a shop here locally for about $10 less then the advertised prices #####. I bought it and it really is a good smooth mag. It shows about 1/8 inch of stainless steel below the handle and then it has the Wilson mag pad on the bottom below that. Cosmetically, I prefer the mag that came with the Detonics because it fits flush at the bottom of the gun. The Wilson holds one extra round though and that is nice.

All in all, Deeton, I am really pleased with my Detonics and I truly hope when/if they open up again, they stay true to the Detonics tradition of quality at an affordable price.

I'll report on it again after I have worked on the sights at the range.

Dave
