45 ACP ammo can not be fired from a 451 barrel. The round will not headspace properly and drops too far in being out of reach of the firing pin. The extractor has nothing to do with it. Vice versa, the 451 ammo in the 45 ACP barrel will stick out of the barrel not permitting the slide to go into battery postion. Either case it is not like putting 38's in a 357 because this ammo headspeces off the case edge not on the rim end like revolver ammo. It would be dangerous to try to fire in either case. If you have the both barrels out of the pistols, you can easily demonstrate it to yourself and why Detonics made two separate barrels for this purpose.
