A friend of mine passed away a couple of years ago and his family decided to liquidate his gun collection. I acquire a Detonics (blued) with a serial number 4047. There are no letter prior to the number and there is nothing marking the slide as to a model. Other than a rub mark on the left portion of the dust cover there is not a mark on the pistol. There is not indication on the breech-face that the gun has ever chambered a round. What I need to know is what do I have in my possession? Is it something of collector value, a shooter? or just a nice conversation piece. I'm not a collector other than some high end 1911 by Richard Heinie.
