Armand Swenson was a dear friend of mine,....whom I had a long associtation with over 21 years(1975-1996. While a MARINE at Camp Pendleton,....I was a weekly guest for dinner every Wednesday, and a frequent weekend guest as Armand I and went to IPSC matches together! Irene, his wife was kind, generous, and both were a overjoyed to entertain their friends!

Armand did on a few occassions put a Seecamp conversion on a pistol normally at the request of the customer and ANYONE who knew Armand can tell you that if he didn't like a product he would try NOT to have to use it! (Armand had this thing about CUSTOMER SATIFACTION; he wanted his customers to get what they ask for );......but he was always kind enough to meantion to anyone listening that a pistol might have trouble performing EVERYTIME if the wrong components were put on it!

I have a SWENSON .45 and I have several other .45's built by several of the BIG names of today. To me,.....Armand's Colt is clearly the most superior of anything I have seen then or now! It is the only pistol I carry!
As a last note,......I never knew anyone that was personaly trained by Armand Swenson as Armand would NEVER allow anyone to work on any pistol that bore his name. But he was the kind of man that if you showed up at his shop,.....he would give a friend the full benefit of his vst recollection of gunsmithing Do's and Don't and his considerable knowledge of BOAT BUILDING! I keep a picture of him on my dresser and think of him often,....missing his good humor, his gentle advice of what "a man ought to do" and his kindness!
