I've made 1911 grips before but not for the Detonics. For a carry gun my preference is for the Pachmeyer's. These are for looks. I used to make knives and have a good selection of exotic woods. Too bad I'm allergic as heck to most of them. I can work with them, but then have to sprint to the shower and shampoo to keep from busting out all over.
