In my opinion (very humble) ANY 1911 type Detonics gun is equal to or BETTER than all of the factory "custom/tuned/hand fitted" new guns. The Detonics were TRUELY hand fitted and tuned. So if you wanted a fair comparrison you would probably be dealing with guns that cost much more than your average Scoremaster and performed about the same. I think one of the best things about owning and shooting(ALLOT) a Detonics is the fact that it is a Detonics. EVERY match I shoot I get to brag up my little gun and tell the Detonics story to someone. OR someone looks at it and says "That's a Combatmaster, nice gun!". Pride in ownership says it all. You won't go wrong with the $750 Scoremaster that you mentioned. If it turns out that you're not happy with it, you probably could make money on it as they seem to go pretty fast at that price. The problems that I mentioned earlier are really minor and if you give the gun a good look it will probably last you forever. Let me know what you end up doing!
