I was a personal friend of the designer. There were actually two revolvers they were both break open style like a webley. I fired both of them at a range in Issaquah 1982-83?. One was a in Detonics.451 magnum and the other was in .44 magnum. Both weapons were massive looking afairs but were riduculously light due to the frame being made out of a very expensive and very secret alloy ( or so I was told) there was a big discussion that it couldn't be handled by the general public. The designer and several of the guys doing the testing of it were at odds over who was right so they let my scrawney 14 yr old self fire two cylinders each one single action and the other double action. These were the first hand guns I had ever fired and at 50 yrds I was hitting the black almost every time.
There was at least one man who was very adamant that women couldnt handle something so huge...I thought this was riduculous at the time. The company was trying to market their firearms to women at the time by offering lots of stopping powere in a small package and a light wieght gun that would fit in a purse.(I still laugh every time I think about the pastel colors and annodized frames of some of the "pocket nines" )I had to agree with him the recoil was unreal this was not a weapon you wanted to get in a firefight with if you didnt drop your target with the first round. I was told that they were stolen out of the vehicle in the factory parkinglot while it was being loaded to go to the gunshow. I remember everyone at the factory was hopping mad about it, as it had cost quite a pretty penny to build the two prototypes.
feel free to contact me if you would like more information.
